Enabling talented innovators to change education

The Mind Trust empowers talented innovators to transform K-12 education by starting groundbreaking initiatives to address some of its most pressing problems. During the two-year fellowship, The Mind Trust provides its Education Entrepreneur Fellows with a $90,000 annual salary, full healthcare and benefits plus a $20,000 startup stipend. In addition, The Mind Trust supports the fellows as they launch their new ventures in Indianapolis.

We select the highest caliber of applicants - those who can apply entrepreneurial skills to addressing social problems - because we want to support the initiatives that are driving the most impact in public schools. Since The Mind Trust began receiving applications for the fellowship in 2008, more than 3,600 individuals from 48 states and 36 countries have applied. Out of that pool, The Mind Trust has chosen eight fellows.

Every day, the fellowship programs The Mind Trust helped to launch improve the outcomes of students and the quality of the K-12 system. As a few examples, our fellowship initiatives engage and retain great teachers, help low-income students to advance -rather than fall behind -during the summer months, and provide critical support to help foster children achieve better educational outcomes.

Our Fellows have received national recognition for their efforts, which have been featured in TIME Magazine (PDF), The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Wall Street Journal, Essence Magazine and other major publications.
