These $100,000-$150,000 awards are designed to provide necessary start-up capital to bridge the gap between initial launch and full school enrollment. For example, these grants could be used to provide funding for costs associated with hiring staff before a school launches to accommodate the phase-in process, building network support capacity, making facilities improvements, and investing in technology infrastructure. These investments will be contingent upon awardees meeting critical benchmarks during the planning and school-design phases.
This award, ranging between $200,000 and $1.5 million, is designed to enable operators to enhance structural capacity (personnel needs, network systems, etc.) as they grow into multi-site networks, and eventually become financially sustainable. Schools that may be considered for this award must meet a set of rigorous criteria, and will also have ongoing benchmarks that will be reported to The Mind Trust throughout the award period.
