Phalen Leadership Academy seeks teachers & employees for PLA@103, Indiana’s first Innovation Network School

Indianapolis – The Phalen Leadership Academies (PLA), the new operator of Francis Scott Key School (IPS #103), will hold an employment information session to recruit talented and passionate teachers and staff for PLA@103, Indiana’s first Innovation Network School.

PLA’s newly approved school, which will open for the 2015-2016 school year on the city’s far eastside, was incubated as a part of The Mind Trust’s Innovation School Fellowship, a partnership with the Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) and the City of Indianapolis to help create high-quality Innovation Network Schools within IPS.

When: Wednesday, May 13; 5-7 p.m.

Where: Phalen Leadership Academy, 2323 N. Illinois St.

Specifically, PLA@103 is recruiting licensed K-6 teachers, teacher’s assistants, parent advocates and other positions within the school:

· Those applicants who wish to attend should bring a resume and RSVP online at tinyurl.com/PHALENCAREERS.

· To review career opportunities, applicants may check: www.phalenacademies.org.

In addition to positions at PLA@103, talented and passionate applicants also are being sought for Phalen Leadership Academy’s existing charter school in Indianapolis.

Innovation Network Schools were made possible by a 2014 state law giving IPS new authority to replace chronically underperforming or underused schools with new autonomous schools within the district. At each potential school site, a school leader or management team operate the school under a contract with IPS that spells out academic expectations. What’s more, the new schools will have the freedom to hire staff, design their own curriculum and extend the school day and/or year to best serve the needs of students.
