Community Learning Sites Spring Break Operation Update

In January, 2021, The Mind Trust announced the extension of Community Learning Sites through June 4. Ever since, Community Learning Sites have continued to serve students, providing safe, supportive in-person options.

With the majority of Indianapolis school districts’ spring breaks ahead from March 22 – April 2, multiple Community Learning Sites are committed to remaining open to support students over break.

The following sites will be open Monday through Friday during the entirety of spring break:

  • AYS (all 23 sites across Indianapolis)
  • Brookside Community Development Corporation at 1035 N Olney St #2254, Indianapolis, IN 46201
  • Christamore House at 502 N Tremont St, Indianapolis, IN 46222
  • Westside Missionary Baptist Church at 6321 La Pas Trail, Indianapolis, IN 46268
  • Witherspoon Presbyterian Church at 5136 Michigan Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46228

In particular, AYS’ sites will be offering full-day Spring Break Camps for students in Decatur, Washington, and Center Townships. You can learn more about AYS’ special spring break programming on their website and in this flyer in English and Spanish. For AYS spring break programs, students must be enrolled in the district each program takes place in to participate.

Cost Information

There is no cost to register or attend a Community Learning Site at Brookside Community Development Corporation, Christamore House, Westside Missionary Baptist Church, or Witherspoon Presbyterian Church. AYS provides limited financial assistance on a first-come, first-served basis to families who are at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level, and uses the FSSA Child Care Income Eligibility Determination & Fee Schedule to determine assistance eligibility.

How to Register

Find registration information, hours of operation, and more at communitylearningsites.org/locations. Families must register at the site that works best for them before dropping their child off at a site.

Meanwhile, the following sites will not be operating during spring break:

  • Nikki Blaine Learning Center
  • Shepherd Community Center
  • The Reset Center

Following spring break, all sites will return to normal operation for the remainder of the semester through June 4.
