Director of Talent
The Mind Trust seeks a visionary, strategic, and driven Director of Talent to lead the recruitment, selection, and development pipeline for our city and statewide Fellowship programs. This role will be responsible for identifying exceptional leaders who are prepared to launch or strengthen transformational public schools across Indiana. The Director of Talent will oversee the full lifecycle of our Fellow selection processes and refine how we identify and cultivate talent through our Emerging Leaders Fellowship, Indiana Charter School Fellowship, and other internal programming.
Beyond program recruitment, the Director of Talent will be charged with crafting and implementing an organizational talent philosophy that guides how we seek out, select, and support leaders. This includes developing tools, rubrics, and messaging that reflect our commitment to excellence and innovation in education. The Director will ensure our processes are rigorous and aligned to the qualities that drive success in school leadership and systems change.
Working in close collaboration with the Senior Director of Leadership and School Development, the Director of Talent will also help shape a citywide and statewide talent strategy. This strategy will be grounded in the current and projected needs of schools across Indiana and will position The Mind Trust as a proactive force in building a pipeline of mission-aligned and highly effective school leaders. Senior Director of Talent Operations
The Senior Director of Talent Operations is responsible for overseeing all HR functions at The Mind Trust, including payroll administration, benefits coordination and administration, and retirement plan administration. The Senior Director of Talent Operations is also responsible for talent recruitment for new and open positions within The Mind Trust, new employee onboarding, and employee performance management. Employee performance management duties include semi-annual performance reviews, ongoing people development and management, and planning and executing annual staff retreats.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Finance, the Senior Director of Talent Operations is a key senior member of The Mind Trust’s Finance and Operations team and will manage direct reports. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator with a strong background in nonprofit HR management and employee performance management.

The Mind Trust has established a 403(b) savings plan to provide employees with the potential for future financial security for their retirement. Employees are eligible to enroll in the 403(b) savings plan on the first day of employment and begin voluntary contributions. Participants in the plan are eligible on the first day of employment to receive a dollar for dollar employer match of up to five (5) percent based on the employee’s contribution level. A participant in the plan is vested at three years of service.
The Mind Trust has established a variety of health benefits which include medical, dental and vision insurance benefits through Trinet, our Professional Employer Organization (PEO). The Mind Trust covers 90% of the cost of medical, dental and vision insurance plans for employees and dependents up to a maximum of the premium expense for a PPO 300 medical plan, a dental 100 plan and a basic vision insurance plan. Employees of The Mind Trust have access to the following plans: 15 medical insurance plans in the Aetna network; 14 dental plans in the Aetna, Delta Dental, Guardian and MetLife networks; and four vision plans in the Aetna and VSP networks.
The Mind Trust provides basic life insurance for employees in the amount of 1 x salary. The Mind Trust also provides long and short-term disability insurance at no cost to the employee.
The Mind Trust is committed to the development of its staff through continuous learning. The Mind Trust’s Continuing Education program is designed to assist eligible employees with the financial aspects of educational opportunities.
Full time employees with at least one year of service are eligible for benefits under this policy. Employees may pursue a degree, take individual courses at approved and accredited educational institutions, or receive professional mentoring/training under this program, provided the request is related to the employee’s current position or a probable future role and The Mind Trust approves the request.
PTO is an all-purpose time-off policy for full-time employees. Employees receive PTO allocations each year based on the length of their employment per the following schedule: 0-2 years of service – 20 days per year; 3-6 years of service – additional three days per year; at 7 years of service – additional three days per year.
The Mind Trust grants holiday time off to all employees on 19 holidays during the calendar year including December 26 through December 31 annually for winter break and one floating holiday (birthdays, religious holidays, heritage holidays, etc.). If staff members would like to exchange a holiday for another day, they may opt to work remotely on the holiday and take another day off.
Full-time employees of The Mind Trust are eligible for family leave. The total amount of family medical leave an eligible employee is entitled to take for any of the purposes set forth in the Family and Medical Leave Policy is 12 weeks during any rolling 12-month period measured backward from the date the employee uses family medical leave.
Primary caregivers are granted eight (8) weeks paid leave and four (4) weeks unpaid leave for birth or placement of a child for adoption or foster care.
Secondary caregivers are granted two (2) weeks paid leave and two (2) weeks unpaid leave for birth or placement of a child for adoption or foster care.
To offer assistance to all employees who are building families, The Mind Trust provides eligible employees with a $3,000 reimbursement for eligible adoption costs in addition to the family leave for primary care givers after adoption placement. Full-time Employees of The Mind Trust are eligible for an adoption benefit. Adopted children, to be considered for this benefit, must be under the age of eighteen.
In order to assist with childcare during required work travel when it is necessary for a child to accompany an employee who is the primary caregiver to his/her child(ren), The Mind Trust has a child care travel reimbursement benefit. For eligible employees, when mandatory travel is required of an employee who is the primary caregiver to a child or children under age two (2), and the employee needs to bring the child along with him/her for the work travel, The Mind Trust will pay 50% of the cost for an additional caregiver to travel with the staff member not to exceed $400 per trip.
For eligible employees who are the primary caregiver of children under sixteen years of age and who are required to be at an evening (after 6pm) or weekend business related event/meeting, The Mind Trust will reimburse employee up to $12 an hour for up to four hours for the cost of a caregiver while the employee attends the event/meeting.
