Senior Vice President of Schools
Kelli Marshall serves as Senior Vice President of Schools at The Mind Trust, where she leads the organization’s school support investment strategy. In this role, she oversees system-level initiatives and investments that drive the growth and sustained success of high-quality schools for Indianapolis students. Marshall also leads the team that operates the Indy Summer Learning Lab, a five-week summer initiative serving over 5,000 students annually and consistently produces significant gains in English Language Arts and Math proficiency. In addition, she oversees the team managing Indiana Learns, a statewide tutoring program The Mind Trust operates on behalf of the Indiana Department of Education that provides academic support to the families of more than 15,000 students. Through her work, Marshall strengthens the ecosystem of support that enables students, educators, and schools to thrive.
Marshall began her career as a teacher in Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS), later serving as an instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal. After 16 years with IPS, she transitioned to the charter school sector in 2008, where she successfully led the turnaround of a struggling school. Her leadership resulted in long-term stability and growth, with the school continuing to thrive today as a K–12 institution.
In 2011, Marshall founded Tindley Collegiate Academy, Indiana’s first all-girls charter school. Under her leadership, the school became the highest-performing middle school in Indianapolis. She later stepped into the role of CEO for the Tindley network, where she partnered with the board to close a significant budget gap, restructure operations, and ensure the network’s long-term sustainability.
Following her time at Tindley, Marshall served as regional support for 17 schools through Instruction Partners, helping schools improve teaching and learning practices. She later returned to school leadership as Chief Academic Officer for GEO Academies, where she successfully launched GEO Next Generation High School and supported five other schools across Indiana.
Marshall holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University and a Master’s in Educational Administration from Butler University. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education at Marian University.
