Lauren I. Peterson
Vice President of Community Engagement
Lauren I. Peterson is a dedicated advocate with a deep passion for community empowerment, education, and advancing women’s issues. With nearly three decades of experience in community engagement, Peterson has dedicated her career to ensuring all students, regardless of their background, receive a high-quality education.
She currently serves as the Vice President of Community Engagement at The Mind Trust, where she activates community partnerships with local nonprofits, community centers, and faith-based organizations to advocate for and create an educational system that serves all students well.
Prior to joining The Mind Trust in 2016, she served at Enroll Indy as the founding Manager of
Community Engagement, where she was pivotal in helping families navigate Indianapolis’
school choice landscape. She also held leadership positions at Phalen Leadership Academies
and the Black Coaches Association. Peterson is a deeply committed volunteer and community servant who currently serves on several boards, including for Starfish Initiative, Marian University’s Leadership Initiative, Paramount Schools of Excellence’s Education Advisory Committee, and the Indiana Black Expo Education Conference Committee. Her previous board service also includes Special Olympics Indiana and as a member of the Far Eastside Education Task Force.
Peterson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management from Marian University and is a proud graduate of the inaugural Leaders & Legacies program. Beyond her professional endeavors, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, being actively involved in Witherspoon Presbyterian Church as an Elder, and by leading Children’s Church programming, and unwinding with a good movie.
