Rebecca Kubacki joins The Mind Trust’s Board of Directors

The Mind Trust, an Indianapolis-based education nonprofit dedicated to ensuring every student has access to a high-quality school, is proud to welcome Rebecca Kubacki to its Board of Directors. A longtime advocate for education, children, and underserved communities, Kubacki brings decades of experience in public service and leadership that will help advance The Mind Trust’s mission.

“I am pleased to join The Mind Trust’s Board of Directors at a period of growth statewide and nationally for the organization. The Mind Trust has made a significant impact on education quality and access in our city and state, and I look forward to supporting its expanded impact,” said Kubacki.

“We are incredibly honored to welcome Rebecca Kubacki to The Mind Trust’s Board of Directors,” said Brandon Brown, CEO of The Mind Trust. “Her leadership, deep commitment to families, and belief in the power of education perfectly align with our mission. Rebecca’s passion for underserved communities will be a tremendous asset as we continue to grow opportunities for students in Indiana, Connecticut, and beyond.”

Kubacki is a trailblazing public servant who advocates for education, families, and underserved communities. Born in a migrant workers’ camp in Immokalee, Florida, she rose to become the first Hispanic Republican elected to the Indiana House of Representatives, where she served from 2010 to 2014, representing District 22. During her time in the Statehouse, she chaired the Family, Children, and Human Affairs Committee and focused on legislation that protected vulnerable populations. Her policy work included efforts to curb methamphetamine abuse through statewide safety measures and prescription regulations, as well as advocating for the inclusion of essential hygiene products under SNAP benefits. Kubacki also fostered civic engagement among youth by organizing initiatives such as Latino Page Day at the Statehouse.

Outside the legislature, Kubacki has remained an influential figure in education and leadership development. She is a former member of the Marian University Board of Trustees and currently chairs the Latino Leadership Initiative, where she works to expand opportunities for Latino students and professionals. As a dedicated supporter and donor to The Mind Trust, she continues to champion innovation in education. Kubacki is married to Mike Kubacki, former CEO of Lake City Bank, and together they have played a significant role in supporting both civic and philanthropic causes throughout Indiana.
