Rebecca Greenberg-Ellis joins The Mind Trust as Executive Director, Connecticut
The Mind Trust has hired Rebecca Greenberg-Ellis as Executive Director, Connecticut. Greenberg-Ellis will join the organization’s team as the leader of Connecticut initiatives. She has been part of Connecticut’s charter school community since 2010, when she moved to New Haven from California. As Executive Director, Connecticut, Greenberg-Ellis will lead The Mind Trust’s work to grow and support the state’s charter school sector through initiatives like the North Star Fellowship, school support investments, talent development, and advocacy alongside community partners.
“I am excited to welcome Rebecca to The Mind Trust team. She brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to Connecticut students and families,” said Brandon Brown, CEO of The Mind Trust. “As we continue building strong partnerships and investing in excellent schools across Connecticut, Rebecca will play a critical role in ensuring every child has access to a high-quality public education.”
The Mind Trust is a nonprofit that invests in public education to transform lives and increase academic achievement in Indianapolis, across Indiana and Connecticut, and beyond. This includes growing new high-quality public charter schools, supporting existing schools and educators, engaging the community in every region we serve, and managing student-centered programming.
“The Mind Trust’s work in Connecticut represents an exciting new chapter in the effort to expand high-quality public school options in our state,” said Rebecca Greenberg-Ellis. “I’ve been incredibly fortunate to be part of Connecticut’s K–12 landscape for more than 15 years as a nonprofit advocate for educational excellence, a public school parent, a publicly elected Board of Education member, and an institutional donor. During that time, I’ve witnessed firsthand the resilience, determination, commitment, and compassion of charter school leaders, teachers, families, and students. It’s an honor to now serve in this new capacity on their behalf. I look forward to building on the strong foundation already in place, supporting innovative leaders, and working alongside partners who believe every CT child deserves access to the very best, most effective, and most innovative public schools available. I am excited for The Mind Trust to help realize that vision for Connecticut communities.”
Before joining The Mind Trust, Rebecca served for many years as Senior Education Program Officer at The Peter and Carmen Lucia Buck Foundation, where she led a K–12 education portfolio focused on supporting charter schools, strengthening talent pipelines, and advancing excellent education for all students in Connecticut and New York City.
Previously, Rebecca was Senior Vice President of Growth at 50CAN, a national education advocacy organization, and held leadership roles in fundraising and strategy at the Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now.
Rebecca earned an MBA in Sustainable Management from Presidio Graduate School and bachelor’s degrees in Cultural Anthropology and Studio Art from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Rebecca also serves on the Regional School District #4 Board of Education and lives in Connecticut with her family.
