The program is open to any educator at an Indianapolis charter or innovation school and is particularly well-suited for team and grade-level leads, instructional coaches, deans, directors, and assistant principals. The program is free, each session includes lunch, and all participants receive a program t-shirt.

Spots are limited, and participation requires a commitment to attending in-person sessions throughout the program year. Completing the registration form does not guarantee a spot; applicants will be contacted with the next steps after submitting.

IndyEd Leadership Network Program Details

The IndyEd Leadership Network brings together a wide range of educators, from teacher leaders and department heads to instructional coaches and school administrators, spanning elementary, middle, and high school settings across Indianapolis. Throughout the program, participants strengthen their skills across four key leadership domains:

Domain 1: Personal Leadership
Understanding yourself as a leader, your strengths, your values, and how you show up for others.

Domain 2: Positional Leadership
Leveraging your role and influence within your organization to drive meaningful change.

Domain 3: People Leadership
Building strong teams, navigating difficult conversations, and leading effectively from any position.

Domain 4: Systems Leadership
Exploring the broader challenges and opportunities that shape education in Indianapolis and beyond.

A Look at Year One

The IndyEd Leadership Network launched its inaugural cohort in fall 2025 at P30 on the Far Eastside of Indianapolis, welcoming 21 leaders from 13 Indianapolis charter schools. Participants engaged in four sessions of cohort-based professional development designed to strengthen leadership capacity across personal, positional, people, and systems leadership, with the ultimate goal of developing system-level leaders across the city.

Session 1: In the inaugural session, participants worked with facilitator Beth Napleton of LevelEDUp Leadership to explore personal leadership, examining how to leverage individual strengths, develop a leadership identity, and lead with self-awareness and influence.

Session 2: The second session built on that foundation, deepening participants’ understanding of their leadership practice through expert perspectives and hands-on application. Participants heard from a panel of educators, including Indiana Charter School Fellow Aaron Wallace, Assistant Education Director at Dynamic Minds Academy, who shared insights into working with diverse learners and the realities of specialized teaching roles. Participants also engaged in a problem of practice, designing lesson plans for special education students and exploring how to adjust instruction to meet a range of accommodations and needs.

Session 3: The third session, facilitated by Beth Napleton of LevelEDUp Leadership, focused on leading people effectively. Participants practiced navigating difficult conversations, coaching individuals and teams, and building the trust necessary to drive a strong adult culture within their schools and organizations.

Session 4: In the fourth and final session of the inaugural year, participants connected their individual leadership practice to broader organizational strategy and school-wide impact. The session centered on understanding how systems and structures shape school culture, aligning team efforts to organizational goals, and leading with a whole-school perspective.

The IndyEd Leadership Collaborative’s inaugural year demonstrated the depth of talent and commitment among Indianapolis school leaders. We look forward to building on this foundation as we launch Year 2 with a broader cohort of emerging leaders from across the city.
