Alicia Hervey

Alicia Hervey is the leader of The PATH School, which utilizes a culturally-responsive, holistic learning school model that focuses on individually supporting each student. Her school will feature PATH teams that support groups of students through their entire school experience.

An Indianapolis native, Alicia Hervey has served in various instructional leadership capacities in both charter and district schools over the course of her 27 years in education. Most recently, Hervey served as Dean of Student Development for Christel House Academies and previously served as Turnaround Principal for Arlington High School, Assistant Principal for Tindley Preparatory Academy, and Assistant Principal for School Without Walls in Washington D.C. Prior to these roles in school administration, she was an English teacher for thirteen years.

During her time as Turnaround Principal at Arlington High School, the school increased ISTEP+ scores in 7th grade English/Language Arts from 25.6% passing to 43% and increased ISTEP+ scores in 7th grade math from 32.9% passing to 56%. Additionally, the school saw increased ECA scores in Algebra I from 23.9% passing to 39% passing.

Notably, Hervey served as Director of DC Public Schools’ Master Educator Program, overseeing a highly selective corps of master teachers charged with evaluating and supporting teachers across the district. She served as a Master Educator herself prior to becoming the program’s Director.

Hervey holds an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from Columbia University and a B.S in Language Arts Education from Tuskegee University.
