Developing Indianapolis educators

Our city’s teachers deserve support and investment so that their students can have the best classroom experience possible. The Mind Trust is proud to invest in strategies, programs, and events that aim to increase the number of high-quality, diverse educators in Indianapolis.

Indy Summer Learning Labs

Each summer, Indy Summer Learning Labs, an initiative of The Mind Trust, serves more than 5,000 students who will be in grades 1-9 after the summer break. ISLL hires instructional staff including teachers and classroom assistants who deliver curriculum and support students in community-based sites across the city. Instructional staff receive competitive compensation and professional development support.

Become a teacher in Indianapolis

The Mind Trust has recruited two national nonprofit teacher training programs to Indianapolis to help recruit and prepare exceptional talent for our schools. Teach For America Indianapolis and TNTP’s Indianapolis Teaching Fellows have placed more than 1,750 educators in Indianapolis classrooms.

Teach Plus Indiana

Teach Plus Indiana’s mission is to empower excellent, experienced, and diverse teachers to take leadership over key policy and practice issues that advance equity, opportunity, and student success. Teachers from across the state learn how policy is made and how it impacts their classroom. They provide teachers with training and opportunities to change and influence policies at the school, district, and state level—achieving change in schools and in the broader education system.
